Departmental Portal

Access your Departmental Portal and log in as "STAFF"

Confidentiality Form for New Departmental Agents

This form must be completed and returned to ISSS before ITS staff can add you as a Departmental Agent. Click here to access the form.

Step 1. Adding New Applicant to D1

Click on "Add Member" in your Departmental Portal on the right-hand side of the page

  • Add the applicant's information. It is very important that the name is entered as it reads on the passport! Only complete the fields that have a red asterisk. You can list the department phone number and address instead of the applicant's number and address.
  • If the applicant is already in D1, you will see a message as you add the person indicating there’s already a client with that that name. Please contact ISSS in this case.
Step 2. Begin Application
  • Click on "New Application"
  • Find the appropriate application and click "More Information"
  • Click on "Apply Now"
  • Find the name of the applicant and click "Start"
  • Complete some of the Department sections but leave a few blank so that the Applicant cannot submit the petition before you are ready to submit it

If you are working on an application and you do not finish adding all the required information on the page to move ahead, you must click "Save and Finish Later" at the very bottom of the page or you will lose all the information that you added to that page.

Step 3. Informing Applicant to Log In and Complete Application

Once the department admin has created the login and started the application, the department can send them this email template with instructions on how to complete their portion.

Helpful email template to send to applicant:

Dear ______,

I have started an application for you. Please follow the steps below to complete your portion. A list of required documents for J-1 Scholars can be found here and a list of required documents for H-1B, TN, E-3 and O-1 applications can be found here.

  • Log in at noncredit.temple.edu as "student" with the username: (insert user name here, found next to applicant in D1 Member List. See a screenshot below of where to find the username.)
  • Click "Forgot Password" to create a password, if necessary.

Completing the Application

  • Login in at noncredit.temple.edu
  • Click "My Applications" and complete all sections that specify "Applicant"
  • Notify your department when you have completed the applicant's portion
Step 4. Completing the Application

The department is responsible for working directly with the applicant to gather and review the information and documents submitted by applicant. Just because there is a green check mark does not mean that the applicant submitted the correct documents.

  1. Department completes Department Sections
  2. Department submits the application
For J-1 Scholars: **Pay Special Attention to**
  • Insurance date, as the insurance coverage must cover, at minimum, the appointment dates. An application will be returned and delayed if the insurance dates don't cover the appointment dates. Please read more about this here.
  • English language proficiency must be demonstrated. It is recommended that the department requires proof of this in the beginning of the process because an application can not go forward without it. More info can be found here.
  • 2 Month Timeline: A fully completed application must be, at a minimum, 2 months prior to the desired start date for an applicant outside of the US. For applicants inside the US already on the desired visa, an application can be submitted 1 month prior. When choosing a start date, please keep in mind that it may take your department a couple weeks to obtain all the required documents from the applicant to complete the application.

Find user name here:

Please make sure to find the applicant username in D1 and provide it to the applicant via the email template above.

Please make sure all steps have a green check mark next to them once completed. Review all documents uploaded by the applicant for accuracy before submitting the application.

Application Status

ISSS will review the application. If additional documentation is needed, ISSS will "Return" the application. Once the required information and documents are complete, ISSS will take appropriate action required.
