Late Arrival or Deferral of Your Admission

Late Arrival:

If you cannot arrive by the program start date listed on your I-20 or DS-2019, you should contact the academic advising team in  your college or school request permission to arrive late.  Please see https://undergraduate.temple.edu/advising/offices for a list of undergraduate advising offices. Graduate students should connect with their admitting department.

In general, delays beyond the "drop/add" period are not possible. International Students in F-1 or J-1 status are expected to be registered full-time by the end of drop/add. See Temple  University's academic calendar for that date for your intake.

If permission is granted for you to arrive late, you should forward the email from your advising department to isss@temple.edu. We will update your  form and send it to you via e-mail.

Deferral:

If you wish to defer your admission to a future semester, you must request permission to do so from the department to which you originally applied. International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) cannot defer your application for admission.

TCALC students: Please contact the Center for American Language and culture at .

Undergraduate Students:  All questions regarding the renewal process must be directed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at international.admissions@temple.edu.

Graduate Students/Professional School Students:  Please contact your respective admitting department. Each graduate department has its own policy regarding deferring admission. For contact information for each Temple University department, you may go to: Admissions Contacts | Temple University Graduate School

When you are notified that your admission has been deferred, please contact isss@temple.edu and let us know. We may require updated financial documentation. You will receive an email, if we need any documents to process your I-20.
