Who is this class for?
Students who wish to apply for Temple University as an undergraduate and study in the U.S. can gain direct admission upon completion of this gateway program. This is a cost-effective alternative to develop the skills you to succeed in college and gain admission to a university.
Pre-approved students who complete the program will be granted admission to Temple University. Applicants must submit a high school transcript and have a a minimum of 5.5 IELTS to be admitted.
What will we learn?
Students will improve their English, prepare for college-level courses, and receive 1-on-1 support with their college application and visa application.
Students will:
- Understand the visa application and interview process
- Prepare an application to Temple University
- Complete university-like assignments reading, writing, and speaking
- Develop the academic skills (critical thinking, collaboration, self-organization etc.) expected in university.
What is included?
Students who successfully complete the course will be directly admitted to Temple University. Students will also receive a certificate of completion, strengthening their academic background and F-1 visa application. Students will complete their CommonApp as part of the program
Students will have direct support from expert staff at Temple University Center for American Language and Culture and Access American Education.
Application Process
Interested students first apply to the program, submitting current high school transcripts and IELTS score report. Students accepted into the program will receive pre-approval for admission to Temple University. Admitted students then pay the $300 tuition fee. Upon completion of the program, students will receive direct admission to the university.

Rob Sheppard
Associate Director - TCALC
Rob is Associate Director for Academic Services at Temple Center for American Language and Culture. He has taught English to primary and secondary students in Taiwan and South Korea, and led a Department of State-funded college access program in Jordan. Rob has a master's degree in English language teaching, and is working on a Ph.D. in applied linguistics at Temple. He loves hiking, music, travel, and food. He has traveled to about 35 countries, and his favorite place is Vietnam.
Class Location
The Gateway Program is a partnership between Temple University Center for American Language and Culture (TCALC) and Access American Education (AAE). The Fall 2026 program will be held at AAE's offices in Ho Chi Minh City.
